New life into your systems
Cooling systems wear down over time, but full replacement isn’t always necessary. NRF offers complete refurbishment services
for aluminium and copper-brass systems, helping restore performance and reliability.
Does the unit meet your thermal requirements?
A thermal calculation is made to select the best fin/tubulator combination to meet thermal performance
The answer is recoring
The answer is remanufacturing
Section part radiators for shunter locomotives
NRF’s PRX cooling systems are designed for shunter diesel locomotives, offering excellent cooling performance and easy installation.
Key features:
- Available in 11.18 or 9.66 fins per inch for optimal heat transfer
- Bevelled edges for easier mounting and handling
- Strong lockseam tubes with 0.24 mm wall thickness
- Ribbed fins for enhanced airflow and improved cooling efficiency
Recoring
When do you need recoring?
Every NRF product goes through a rigorous development and testing process to ensure consistent quality and performance. Our commitment includes:
- Leaks or blockages in the core
- Reduced cooling performance
- Tanks and frames are still in good condition
- A fast, cost-efficient repair is needed
- Replacement lead times are too long
- System upgrades require a new core but not a full rebuild
Recoring extends equipment life while reducing waste and material usage.
How does recoring work?
Discover how your existing unit performs and where optimization is possible.
Tanks are repaired and a core is selected based on your thermal performance needs.
All the pieces are put together following the welding certification 15085.
A fully functional cooling unit is returned to you.
Remanufacturing
When do you need remanufacturing?
Remanufacturing is necessary when the unit is beyond repair or recoring. This applies when:
- There is extensive corrosion or cracking
- Leakage is severe or widespread
- Structural or mechanical failures compromise the unit
- The system has reached end-of-life
- The original design must be rebuilt or updated for new thermal requirements
In these cases, a completely rebuilt unit is the most reliable and cost-effective solution.
How does remanufacturing work?
We evaluate the structure, thermal performance, and dimensional requirements in comparison to the original unit.
If required, our engineering team develops a tailored design and performs thermal simulations to ensure optimal performance.
The proposed design is reviewed and approved to confirm it meets all technical and operational requirements.
You receive a remanufactured cooling unit, engineered and built according to your specific requirements.
