The function

Throttle bodies regulate the amount of air entering the engine, playing a key role in overall engine performance and responsiveness. In gasoline engines, they control acceleration by adjusting airflow based on driver input, ensuring smooth and efficient power delivery.

In diesel engines, throttle bodies help manage exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) flow and support diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration. Modern systems also integrate sensors for precise electronic control, improving efficiency, emissions control, and overall engine management.
