Evaporators
The function
The AC evaporator for trucks is the component responsible for producing cold air inside the cabin. It is located inside the HVAC system, usually behind the dashboard, where it receives low-pressure liquid refrigerant from the expansion valve. As air from the blower passes over the evaporator’s cold fins, the refrigerant absorbs heat and evaporates, turning into a gas while cooling the surrounding air.
In heavy-duty trucks, the evaporator plays a crucial role in maintaining driver comfort during long hours on the road. It not only cools the air but also helps remove humidity, improving cabin air quality and preventing window fogging. A clean and efficient evaporator ensures consistent airflow and cooling performance, while a clogged or leaking unit can reduce AC efficiency and strain the entire system.
