Crankshaft Position Sensors

The function

Crankshaft position sensors monitor the position and rotational speed of the crankshaft, providing critical data to the engine control unit (ECU). This information enables precise control of fuel injection and ignition timing for smooth and efficient engine operation.

If the sensor fails or provides incorrect readings, it can lead to misfires, poor performance, or even prevent the engine from starting. Reliable signal accuracy is therefore essential for stable combustion and overall engine functionality.

Product Testing & Validation

NRF crankshaft position sensors are validated using a custom test bench that simulates real crankshaft operation. Signal output and voltage levels are measured, while waveform shape, frequency, and amplitude are analysed to ensure accurate engine data.

Testing across varying temperatures and rotational speeds confirms consistent performance under real operating conditions. This ensures precise ECU communication, reliable engine timing, and dependable overall sensor functionality.
