Build-Your-Dreams BYD has built its “Dream car”. The DENZA branded BEV could be a real Tesla killer in the upper premium segment. The 710kW total output trounces all previous speculation about the vehicle’s power. The front motor delivers 230kW, while each rear motor offers 240kW. Top speed of 240km/h. Using a BYD Blade LFP battery pack, we only can expect a huge range. BYD now offers a wide range of BEV’s and covers, including a pick-up “Shark”, the whole Tesla family now. But it has more: the market demands Plug-in Hybrids and BYD will likely show its supremacy in 2025.
BYD is now ready for the Euro jump with a full range of Hybrids and BEV’s
Tesla as the undisputed market leader in e-mobility over the last decade, is seeing Chinese e-giant BYD get dangerously close. While Tesla had to accept a decline in BEV deliveries in 2024 for the first time in a decade, BYD is showing strong growth. And that’s mainly in Plug in Hybrids (PHEV). In all segments: first timers, SUV’s, luxury , off road and Hyper sports cars: BYD has an offer. This is not the TESLA game at all. The gaps are big and the main lack with Tesla is the fast growing Hybrid segment.
TESLA: stagnation in 2024
In 2024, Tesla sales worldwide declined to about 1.79 million vehicles, a small 1.1 %difference from 2023. Despite 8.8% growth in China (over 650,000 BEVs, 37% of all Tesla vehicles. Good to know that more than half (over 52%) of all Tesla’s are produced in China. Tesla is the only American automaker to produce in China without a joint venture with the Chinese. The question is how long Elon Musk will keep that up….
In the end, 50% of TESLA production comes from China……
Tesla faces challenges in Europe: in Germany and other European markets Tesla struggled in 2024 with declining sales, which negatively impacted its global bottom line. Despite Model Y and Model 3 being the best-selling cars in some countries. Stronger (price) competition from Chinese brands and logistical problems (shipping costs and lead times). Import duties on Chinese cars affect Chinese brands, but partly also Tesla, and have less effect than expected so far.
