On reason might well be that BYD supplies a complete range EV including Plug-in Hybrids, in each segment. Now BYD offers a Pick-up too. Easy to homologate, affordable and useful for entrepreneurs. While the tesla CyberTruck is poorly shown at trade shows because it is not allowed on the road in Europe. And TESLA offers only Full Electric, no hybrids.
In January 2025 BYD launched its new PHEV pick-up model ”BYD Shark”. Now also available with RHD, whereas Tesla only offers LHD. And more is to come: BYD also focusses on the upper segments: she has created new luxury sub brands. It is not sure yet which branding will be chosen for Europe, but the pipeline seems to be filled:
“DENZA” (another BYD brand, started as a joint-venture with Mercedes)
D9 – PHEV/BEV minivan,
N7 – BEV (Tesla Model Y beater)
Z9 – PHEV/BEV: a full size car
Recently shown: Z9-GT, a fastback (PHEV & BEV)
